The first week of April we started a search for a female Eclectus. Carolyn of Land of Vos recommended we check with Shon Miles as he just had two females hatched and they would be weaned soon. We contacted Shon and he indicated that he might have a bird available. Shon was very particular as to whom he would sell his bird to. We communicated several times, Shon emailed us pictures and videos of Darla. We made financial arrangement and impatiently waited for our girl to be fully weaned. Shon was very helpful in transitioning our baby for her new home. He changed her name to Darla as it was our choice of names (she was originally named Ginger). He had Darla fully checked at the vet and arranged for a flight from Des Moies to San Jose, California. We were all concerned for her flight time and we worked together to make it the shortest and safest trip for Darla. Upon her arrival at the airport all paperwork was correct and Darla was turned over to us in great condition. Her appearance is great, she is very healthy and well behaved bird. We love her dearly and anytime anyone wants to buy a bird we highly recommend Shon. Darla is cuddly, sweet, beautiful, healthy and we couldn't ask for more!
Thanks Shon!

Dear Shon,
I just wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful Eclectus we purchased from you! He has been an absolute joy and it is obvious that the hand feeding/taming you did has made a huge impact in Zeus's sweet disposition. Zeus has fit right into our household as if he had always been here. The shipping you arranged was absolutely phenomenal and he arrived safely with plenty of food and toys to keep him company. I especially liked the frequent updates and photos of Zeus while he was growing up. You and your wife are very caring, professional breeders and I just want you to know I really appreciate it! You made this experience of buying a bird in another state as smooth as possible. Thanks again!

When we were looking for birds, we knew just what species we wanted, but not who to get it from. We were deadset against a pet shop or a factory-style breeder, and instead wanted to find one who was within driving distance and raised their birds in a nice family setting. A chance web search led us to Pretty Parrot, and after contacting them, we found out that they had a fledgling DYH -- just what we were looking for.

We planned to search for a lot longer, but after meeting Mal, we were rather hooked. Later that week we set up another visit, and that weekend we made our deposit. We continued the trend of visiting almost every weekend (a 2 hour drive each way) until he was weaned. We just had to see him; he was such an angel. :) On the last day, he entered his cage to go home with us. Frodo, one of their Eclectus parrots, saw us with the awkward load and warned us, "Careful!" When we got him home, he slept most of the day, and spend the next day exploring his new home.

Well, it's almost Mal's bedtime, so I should probably stop writing and put him back in his cage. He'll undoubtedly want his neck scratched, and perhaps even fall asleep while I do it. They did a wonderful job rearing such a sweet parrot. I'd definitely recommend Pretty Parrot Aviary to anyone.

Our search began when we needed to rehome our Ducorp Cockatoo because of our daughter's allergy to his dander. After doing some research, this led us to an Eclectus which was dander/dust free, mild mannered and interacts well with children. Our search led us to Pretty Parrot Aviary and we made a phone call to "Shon." We had a very long first conversation with Shon. He was very informative and explained everything about an Eclectus to us and answered any and every question we had. After a little more talking and more research we decided that Pretty Parrot was the place to go to adopt our "new little girl...Leia." We had many more questions through the upcoming months, which Shon and Susan answered very readily and thoroughly. They kept us updated with pictures of Leia and her progress.

Leia was well socialized and her name (Princess Leia) definitely describes her to a tee. She is very well-behaved, loves to cuddle and is becoming a good talker. She is a good eater and wonderful around our young daughters and new people. We would highly recommend Pretty Parrot for the adoption of an Eclectus.
